Karnataka police form teams to nab rapist

Bengaluru: The South East division police have formed teams to nab the robber who raped the 21-year-old IT employee at knife point at her paying guest accommodation early morning on August 26. The complaint was lodged by the victim the very next day and the Parappana Agrahara police have launched a manhunt for the accused.

According to the police, the victim, hails from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu and had come to the city last week to join work at an IT firm in Madiwala. The victim has been staying at the PG accommodation with her roommate at the fourth floor of the five-storey building, the police added.

According to the police, the PG accommodation was owned by an Andhra based man named Srikanth Reddy, and managed by one of his relatives. There are around 60 working women staying at the PG. There was a CCTV camera, but it was switched off and there were no security guards.

Bribe: ACB traps two
Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials trapped the Kargal town panchayat president while accepting a bribe of Rs 7,000 from a contractor on Wednesday. Kargal town panchayat is in Shivamogga district.

ACB officials said that town panchayat president Venkatesh Putta and water operator Basavaraj were demanding Rs 7,000 bribe to releasing the bills of a civil contract, who had completed the works.

The ACB did not disclose the name of the contractor. Contractor had complained to ACB officials who had registered an FIR. On Wednesday ACB officials laid a trap and arrested both Venkatesh Putta and Basavaraj while they were accepting the bribe. Both have been sent to ACB custody.
