Hyderabad: Woman held for abduction

Rekha wanted to adopt a child and Kallu Giri, the three-and-a-half-year old boy who earlier was her neighbour gave her a hope, police said.

Hyderabad: A housewife who kidnapped a boy and took him to Bihar was nabbed by IDA Bollaram police officials from Secunderabad railway station on her return to the city early on Tuesday.

Satish Reddy, inspector of IDA Bollaram police station, said that Rekha Kumari, 25, wanted to be a mother but could not conceive after going through two abortions within two years of her marriage. “Rekha wanted to adopt a child and Kallu Giri, the three-and-a-half-year old boy who earlier was her neighbour gave her a hope. Last Tuesday, when he was playing alone on the streets, Rekha nabbed him and fled to her native state of Bihar,” said the official.

According to official, last Tuesday Kallu was left on his own to play out on streets by his parents at 8 am and after the child did not come back until 11 am, his parents went looking for him. “The couple approached us on July 25, and it emerged during investigation that Rekha called her husband Sunil, an auto driver, and told him about the kidnapping,” said the official. The cops asked Sunil, Rekha's husband, to call her back and when she came to city on Tuesday morning, she was arrested.
