Suicide attempt near Vidhana Soudha
BENGALURU: High drama prevailed in front of Vidhana Soudha on Saturday morning after a 36-year-old man attempted suicide by consuming poison.
The police said that Gangadhar, a resident of Chikkaballapur, arrived at gate 2 at Vidhana Soudha and shouted that he was being harassed an MLA’s aide and demanded action. He alleged that MLA Byrathi Suresh’s close aide Shivanna had cheated him of Rs 30 lakh.
He then consumed poison. The police immediately snatched the bottle from him and rushed him to Mallige hospital for a medical check-up.
According to the police, Gangadhar and Shivanna were running a real estate agency and the latter had borrowed Rs 30 lakh from money lenders with Gangadhar’s help to purchase land, but failed to repay it.
The money lenders started harassing Gangadhar and he had to sell his ancestral property to repay the loan. When Gangadhar approached Shivanna, he allegedly threatened him and by claiming he was close to MLA Suresh.
On Friday, Gangadhar came to the city to meet Shivanna, but he again refused to repay. The next day a dejected Gangadhar came to Vidhana Soudha and attempted suicide.
Vidhana Soudha police have registered a case and begun investigation.
