3 detained under PD Act by Rachakonda police for threatening public

Two firearms, four live ammunitions and one knife were recovered from the accused.

Hyderabad: Three men who threatened the public and extorted money by posing as naxals were detained under PD Act by the Rachakonda police. The men, identified as Chunchu Mallikarjun and Mitta Anjaneyulu, from Jangaon, and Prakash Jha, from Kolkata, were sent to Chanchalguda Jail.

Mallikarjun and Anjaneyulu were childhood friends and the former started running a Kirana shop in Parvathapur before entering a real estate business. He cheated the public by saying that he could provide plots at cheaper rates and took loans. When, Mallikarjun failed to refund their debts, the victims started pressurising him.

Meanwhile, he met Anjaneyulu and came to know that Anjaneyulu had connections with arms dealers. Mallikarjun explained about his debts and needed a pistol to threaten the public. They then secured a firearm and the trio formed a gang and threatened the public posing themselves as naxals. “Two firearms, four live ammunitions and one knife were recovered from the accused,” M. Anjaneyulu, police official said.
