Bengaluru: Neighbourhood' thieves bore hole, steal from jewellery shop

The thieves, who are yet to be identified and arrested, dug through the rear wall of the jewellery shop adjoining their room.

Bengaluru: A gang of thieves bore a hole through the wall of a jewellery shop from a room they had rented on Hongasandra Main Road in Bommanahalli police limits and decamped with gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 3 lakh.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday at Pavan Jewellers and Bankers, owned by Bheema Rao. The thieves, who are yet to be identified and arrested, dug through the rear wall of the jewellery shop adjoining their room.

The police suspect that the thieves might have planned the burglary in advance and had recced the area for a possible entry point to the shop. “They found the room adjoining the jewellery shop and had taken it on rent 15 days before the burglary,” the police said.

The thieves tried to break open the locker, but could not, and have stolen valuables that were out. The thieves, who claimed to from Uttar Pradesh, met the owner of the room and paid Rs 15,000 as advance.
