Bengaluru: Depressed techie googles ways to commit suicide, ends life in car
Bengaluru: Unable to bear with depression, a 35-year-old techie allegedly suffocated himself to death inside his car in Bagalur police station limits on Thursday. Before taking the extreme step, he had reportedly surfed the internet to find easy ways to commit suicide.
The deceased has been identified as Kartik Shetty, a resident of Frazer Town and hailing from Mangaluru. Shetty was working as a software engineer with a company in Manyatha Tech Park.
Shetty got married four years ago and had a two-year-old son. According to police, Shetty left home on Thursday noon and told his wife that he was going to office.
Instead Shetty drove to an isolated area in Bagalur police station limits and parked his car.
He poured petrol on himself and tried to set himself ablaze. As the doors and widows had remained closed for a long time the fire did not last. Shetty, however, died due to suffocation caused by the smoke.
The incident came to light on Friday after passersby informed police about the car.
The police broke open the car window and pulled out the body. There were burn marks on the body.
A missing complaint was filed by Shetty’s family members after he did not return home on Thursday night. The police are awaiting postmortem report.
