Bengaluru: Four die in separate accidents

The accident happened around 11 pm on Wednesday night while Karthik, a resident of Avenue Road, was returning home from Electronics City.

Bengaluru: Four people, including a software professional, died in separate accidents in various parts of the city since Wednesday night. In the first incident Karthik, a 28-year-old software professional, died after a tipper lorry rear-ended his bike in Madiwala Traffic police station limits. The accident happened around 11 pm on Wednesday night while Karthik, a resident of Avenue Road, was returning home from Electronics City.

He died on spot due to severe head injuries. The truck driver abandoned the vehicle and fled. However, the Madiwala traffic police traced and arrested him on Thursday. The accused has been identified as Vinod, 31.

In the second incident, a 32-year-old woman techie died on spot after a speeding lorry knocked her two-wheeler down near Karthiknagar in HAL traffic police station limits on Wednesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Poonam, a resident of K.R. Puram and hailing from New Delhi.

Police said the incident happened around 11:45 pm, when she was heading home from work. While taking an U-turn near Karthiknagar, a speeding lorry which was heading from the opposite side knocked her down.

She died on spot while the driver abandoned the vehicle behind and fled. HAL traffic police have registered a case and are investigating.

In the third incident, a 70-year-old pedestrian died after he failed to notice a speeding two-wheeler and got hit in Frazer Town traffic police station limits on Wednesday.

The deceased, Nagaraj, is a resident of Frazer Town and was working as a security guard at an apartment in J.C. Nagar. According to the police, while he was returning home after finishing his work, at around 7.30 pm, he tried to cross the road and ran towards a speeding two-wheeler. The rider, Kumar, lost control over his vehicle and rammed into him. Both Kumar and Nagaraj sustained severe injuries and were rushed to the nearby hospital. Nagaraj succumbed to his injuries while Kumar is undergoing the treatment and is said to be out of danger. The Frazer town traffic police have registered a case and begun investigation.

In the fourth incident, a 38-year-old roadside vendor died after he lost the control over the car he was driving and rammed into a mini truck early Thursday in Devannahalli traffic police station limits. According to the police, the deceased, Mani, is a resident of Begur and was heading towards Bagepalli in his car. When he reached near Bhuvanahalli bridge, he lost control over the vehicle and rammed into the canter. He got severely injured and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
