Hyderabad: A man beat up a 20-year-old final year degree student on Tuesday for marrying his 19-year-old daughter without his consent, Malkajgiri police said.
Aditya Pavan had married Veda Sree, 19, a second year degree student, at a temple in Balkampet in April. “They used to live in the same area earlier and were in a relationship since the last four years”, Malkajgiri police sub-inspector D. Mohan said. Although Pavan’s parents had given their approval for the marriage, it had angered Veda Sree’s father Raghavendra.
“The couple were staying at Pavan’s home in Gautam Nagar since their marriage. On Tuesday, Raghavendra and eight others barged into their home, beat up Pavan and took away Veda Sree”, the officer said. Pavan’s father Sai Ram booked a case with Malkajgiri police against Raghavendra and his associates stating that they had kidnapped Veda Sree.
Police have booked a case under IPC sections 363 (kidnapping), 448 (trespassing) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and taken nine persons into custody.
