Hyderabad: Sub-registrars involved in land scam arrested

After a case was registered, Yousuf went absconding and got admitted to a private hospital from where he was arrested.

Hyderabad: Balanagar sub-registrar Mohammed Yousuf and former LB Nagar sub registrar T Ramesh Chander Reddy who were involved in the land scam were arrested by police as the court reserved an order on the bail petition of the arrested persons to June 2.

Meanwhile, Cyberabad Police filed an appeal before the court seeking police custody of the three suspects who were earlier arrested in the case. Police said that T.V. Ramesh Chander Reddy, who earlier worked as Sub-Registrar at LB Nagar registered three sale deeds vide Doc No 15463/15, 15464/15, 15844/15 for 10,950 sq yard land at Doctors Colony, LB Nagar executed by M/s South India Research Institute Pvt. Ltd represented by G. Subba Raju and Sama Constructions, in favour of Sama Narasimha Reddy and others. Instead of collecting Rs 35,000 per square yard as stamp duty, he adopted market value Rs 13000 causing a loss of around Rs 1.5 crore to the government. Similarly, during his tenure as sub-registrar at LB Nagar, he registered a number of immovable properties in various documents by violating provisions of Registration Act, causing a huge loss of crores of rupees to the State Government. Based on a complaint from the district registrar, B. Subba Rao, a case was registered and he was arrested.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Yousuf, sub registrar Balanagar, violated the norms in registering 685 acres of land in Miyapur without boundaries and evaded the stamp duty and registration fees by noting in book no 4 instead of book no 1.

After a case was registered, Yousuf went absconding and got admitted to a private hospital from where he was arrested. Both were sent to remand on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the court which was hearing the bail petitions of Kukatpally sub registrar Rachakonda Srinivas, P. Sanjeeva Parthasarathii and P.V.S. Sharma reserved the order to June 2. Cyberabad Police whose custody petition was rejected by the court on Tuesday, filed an appeal before the court seeking custody on Wednesday and the hearing was postponed to Thursday.
