Bengaluru: Sleuths of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) raided an investment company for allegedly cheating over 4,000 customers to the tune of Rs 30 crore promising high returns.

The CCB team led by PSI Lakshmi Narayana conducted the raid on Ajmerah Group located in Jayanagar 4th Block and seized documents related to investments and the company’s dealings.

Two people, Tabrez Pasha and Abdul Dastagir, have been arrested. They have been booked for criminal breach of trust and cheating along with various sections of Karnataka Money Laundering Act.

CCB officials acted based on a complaint filed by a businessman D.T. Naveen Nanda who claimed that the company has cheated him. Prima facie investigation revealed that the firm did not take permission from SEBI and RBI to run financial operations.

A case has been registered with the Jayanagar police and the company’s bank accounts have also been frozen for further verification, the police said. Recently, a similar raid was conducted on Vikram Investments which had allegedly duped over 500 customers of crores of rupees.

The victims involved former India cricketer Rahul Dravid, badminton player Saina Nehwal and former badminton player Prakash Padukone.
