Bengaluru: A 26-year-old woman killed her two minor sons by pushing them into a lake before jumping self in, at Kalkere village of Magadi Taluk on the outskirt of the city on Sunday. The deceased have been identified as Sujatha (26) and her two children Nakul (6) and Vishal (4). Sujatha was married to Anjana Murthy, a welder, for the last eight years and was living with him in a rented house in Tavarekere.
The police said that Sujatha was leaving home along with her children every other day for the last one week, telling her husband that she needed to see a doctor. Despite her husband insisting to drop her off to the doctor in Kalkere, Sujatha refused.
On Sunday too, Sujatha left home telling Murthy that she was going to the doctor but never returned. Murthy went to Kalkere where Sujatha’s parents stay and inquired if their daughter had come home along with the children. But her parents told him that they haven’t seen their daughter for over a week.
A concerned Murthy searched everywhere in Kalkere and Tavarekere. Meanwhile, villagers in Kalkere spotted three bodies floating in the lake on Sunday evening and informed the police.
The Magadi Rural police identified the bodies with the help of the villagers and informed their family members. The police have taken up a case of unnatural death. Sujatha’s parents told the police that they did not suspect Murthy’s hand behind the suicides, as he looked after their daughter very well.
