Chennai: Three juveniles were arrested for allegedly burgling a house after entering it through the air-conditioner window at Alapakkam in Maduravoyal on Tuesday.
Police recovered gold jewels worth Rs 2 lakh from them.
Police sources said the three were involved in various cases of theft in the city and had been lodged at the Juveniles Home in Mylapore in October.
A. Sathish Kumar, 34, of Alapakkam in Maduravoyal, on Tuesday lodged a complaint with the Maduravoyal police, saying over 10 sovereigns of gold and Rs 50,000 in cash was stolen from his house.
Sathish said his wife left home for work at 9am on Tuesday and returned home around 5pm. Maduravoyal police have registered a case and began inquiries.
The police said the boys entered the house after removing the window AC in the bedroom.
On the basis of CCTV footage, the police nabbed the three juveniles who hail from Maduravoyal on Wednesday. They were produced at Thiruvallur juvenile court and remanded in custody. In October, the boys had broken into a locked house in Maduravoyal and decamped with Rs 50,000 in cash and silver jewellery.
