Bengaluru: Rowdy hacked to death in Kalyan Nagar
Bengaluru: A 32-year-old rowdy sheeter was brutally hacked to death by a gang of armed men in Kalyan Nagar in Banaswadi police station limits late Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Prashanth, a resident of Flower Garden.
Police said that Prashanth was currently running a canned water business and had several criminal cases against him in various police stations in the city.
According to the police the incident took place around 11.45 pm, while he was riding pillion with his friend Uday Kumar on 100 feet road in Kalyan Nagar.
Five armed men came in a car intercepted Prashanth’s bike and when he tried to escape, the gang chased him and attacked him with lethal weapons. They then crushed his head with a boulder and fled.
His friend Uday escaped and later returned, but he was dead. He immediately alerted the police, who rushed to the spot and shifted his body for post-mortem.
A senior officer said that Prashanth was running his canned water business along with his brother Vinod Raj, who was earlier murdered by their business rivals.
The police arrested the accused and one of them named Shivaraj had come out on bail and approached Prashanth’s mother, Menakamma, asking her to withdraw the case and offered her money. However, she refused and told him that her other son will take revenge.
The police suspect that in order to pre-empt an attack, Shivaraj and his accomplices might have murdered Prashanth. Banas wadi police have registered a case and begun investigation.
