Bengaluru: Habitual offender shot at, arrested
The police said that Dinesh was involved in the murder of rowdy Palani.

Bengaluru: Hennur police shot and arrested a 30-year-old habitual offender near Hennur railway station, while he was trying to flee after attacking a police constable on Wednesday night.
The accused has been identified as Dinesh, a resident of Kothanur. He was a supari killed and involved in more than 26 criminal cases, inclu ding murder and attempt to murder. He had over 16 warrants pending against him and was on the run.
The police said that Dinesh was involved in the murder of rowdy Palani. He was also accused in an attempt to kidnap Vinay Bidre, the personal assistant of BJP leader and leader of opposition in Legislative Council, K.S. Eshwarappa, in May 2017. He was also involved in criminal cases in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
According to the police, based on credible information, a police team, led by ACP Mahadevappa, surrounded the accused in an isolated place near Hennur railway station.
The police warned him and told him to surrender, but he tried to escape by attacking head constable Dharma with a dagger. Dharma sustained cut injuries and ACP Mahadevappa shot at Dinesh, injuring both his legs.
Both Dharma and Dinesh were shifted to a hospital for treatment. Police said he was arrested and released on bail, but he went absconding without appearing before the court. A senior officer said he used to extort money from businessmen and shopkeepers.
