Shuhaib murder case: Swords recovered
KANNUR: The police recovered three swords, suspected to have used by the killers of Youth Congress leader S.P. Shuhaib to butcher him from Vellaparamba, near Mattannur. and sent them for forensic examination under tight security. The cops said they recovered the three from the same area where they got a lance of the CPM killer squad last week.
The High Court had on Tuesday came down heavily on the state government and the police for the shoddy investigation and failure to recover the weapons even after 15 days. Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan had also ruled out a CBI investigation, contradicting law minister A.K. Balan's offer after a peace meeting in Kannur last week that the Congress-led UDF boycotted. Shuhaib’s family, who moved the HC, had expressed their willingness to start a hunger strike to press their demand for a CBI investigation.
