Telangana: Rape case suspect stabbed to death
Hyderabad: A rape case suspect was stabbed to death at Adibatla on Monday midnight. Gunti Rajesh, a former temple committee chairman from LB Nagar, was attacked by at least three people wielding knives when he was returning home after drinking at a local bar. The attackers stopped his car, pulled him out and stabbed him several times.
Police said the 35-year-old Gunti Rajesh had lured a BTech student with promise of marriage, and had sexually exploited her after taking her to various places. After the girl came home she became depressed and committed suicide. Police is now investigating whether the girl’s relatives are involved in the murder. Police said that on Monday night Rajesh was driving home after consuming liquor at a bar in Turkayamjal. “Three people stopped his car, pulled him out and stabbed him. They fled after making sure he was dead,” said inspector R. Govinda Reddy. Rajesh, was an accused in the rape of a BTech student in 2015.
Police said Rajesh had hidden the fact that he was married. However, the girl later realised that he was married to another woman. The girl’s parents filed a complaint with the Chaitanyapuri police, who booked a case against Rajesh. Police arrested Rajesh and he was jailed for around a year. Rajesh later came out on bail. “He came out on bail in June 2016. The trial was going on in court,” said a police officer from Adibatla. Police officials are now trying to procure witnesses for the murder. A murder case was registered under Section 302.
