NIA court defers Jagan knife attack case to Feb. 15

Vijayawada: The NIA Special Court has deferred the hearing of a case pertaining to the knife attack on the then opposition leader and YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to February 15.

The deferment came owing to complainant Dinesh Kumar, an officer of Visakhapatnam Airport as well a witness to the attack, not being able to attend the court on Tuesday due to some family commitments.

The special court is expected to take up hearing of the case starting with the complainant and the witness. The court will then examine the victim, Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The special court judge had in an earlier hearing made it clear that the victim in the case will have to personally depose before the court.

Jagan was attacked with a “kodi kathi” at the Visakhapatnam Airport by J. Srinivasa Rao, a waiter at a restaurant on the airport premises, in October 2018.

The case later got handed over to NIA's special court for trial.
