HIV-affected man, associate arrested in Hyderabad for theft

HYDERABAD: A 26-year-old HIV positive man and his 21-year-old associate, both from Karnataka, who were involved in a series of house breaking offences in different parts under tri-city commissionerates and also in two offences in Andhra Pradesh, were arrested by the Hyderabad police Central Zone task force on Wednesday. Police detected 23 offences committed in January 2023, in which the accused were involved and recovered stolen property all worth Rs 20 lakh from them.

Police also found the 26-year-old has four non bailable warrants pending against him in Hyderabad and seven pending in different parts of Karnataka. While four NBWs are executed, city police have informed their Karnataka counterparts about the arrest. The second accused is involved in minor rape case in 2019 and is out on bail now.

After analysing CCTV footage, police identified the accused, as he was an old offender and checked his whereabouts. They found that he had come out of prison. Based on this information, they traced him and found that he along with his associate were involved in 23 offences.

Police said they would break the latch of the locked houses and loot cash and valuables from the house. After committing two offences in Andhra Pradesh, they came to the city. They were waiting to dispose of the stolen booty, when they landed in the police net.
