Hyderabad: 7-year-old mowed down by tractor

Hyderabad: A seven-year-old boy who was cycling near his home in KPHB Colony was mowed down by a tractor that was reversing. The police booked a case and are searching for the absconding tractor driver.

KPHB inspector K. Laxmi Narayana said that the boy identified as Sushanth Reddy, 7, son of Praveen Reddy was a resident of Srinivasa Colony. Sushanth was studying in a nearby private school.

On Thursday evening, the boy came out of home for cycling.

While he was cycling on the Srinivas Colony road near Pragatinagar Lake, a stationary tractor suddenly mowed in reverse direction.

The boy came under the rear tyres of the vehicle. The tractor ran over the boy’s head and death was instant for him, said the inspector.

The driver of the accused vehicle (AP 02 X 7884) is identified as Yashwanth, who abandoned the vehicle and fled from the spot.

A team has been formed to trace the accused and the boy’s body was shifted to Gandhi Hospital mortuary for post-mortem. The body would be handed to his family on Friday, said the inspector.

In another incident, 13 daily wage labourers suffered injuries when the autorickshaw they were travelling in overturned as the driver could not control it while avoiding a stray dog.

The incident happened near ITI in Medchal in which the labourers, all natives of Kistapur village in Toopran mandal suffered injuries, and were admitted to a government hospital for the treatment in an ambulances.
