CPM bosses visit hacked Congress leader M Sukumaran
Kannur: In an apparent attempt to form a wider coalition against what it calls 'RSS violence', top CPM leaders have called on Congress leader M. Sukumaran who was allegedly hacked by BJP-RSS workers in Pathayakkunnu near Thalassery on Monday. While CPM district secretary P. Jayarajan visited Mr Sukumaran, a retired teacher and Congress Kuthuparamba block executive member, on Monday at the hospital where he is undergoing treatment, CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan met him on Tuesday.
He was admitted at Indira Gandhi Cooperative hospital, Thalassery, with fractures on his hands and legs. The police said case has been filed against four BJP workers. They are still at large. Mr Sukumaran was attacked soon after he opened his shop in a suspected retaliation of him filing a complaint with Kathirur police alleging the CCTV cameras of his shop were destroyed during a hartal called by the BJP on Sunday. The police had arrested Nidhin Raj, an RSS worker, in connection with the incident.
