Masked men chase, attack Congress GHMC candidate
Hyderabad: A Congress candidate contesting the GHMC polls from the Hayathnagar division was allegedly attacked by three masked men on Saturday midnight. The incident occurred when the candidate, Chandrashekar, was returning home after campaigning.
Police said that while Chandrashekar was a few meters away from home stones were thrown at his car breaking its windows.
He got down from the car and started running when the gang attacked him with a sharp weapon.
Muthyala Chandrashekar Rao, 47, is a resident of CSR colony in Kuntlur village. On Saturday night, after campaigning, Mr Rao and three of his party men were returning home.
On the way he dropped them at their homes and was going towards his home in his car.
“Around 12.45 am three masked men chased and attacked him from behind. He suffered injuries,” said Hayathnagar sub-inspector Sudhakar.
The moment he neared his home the attackers fled. Congress activists who were waiting for him rushed him to a hospital.
“He is out of danger. Doctors said the attackers might have used a sharp weapon,” added the Hayathnagar sub inspector.
Police registered cases for attempt to murder and for damaging the vehicle.
