Constable Suspended on Charge of Harassing Woman

Visakhapatnam: Commissioner of Police Ravi Shankar Ayyanar issued the order of suspension against constable Y. Ramu, who was working at New Port police station, on charges of harassing a woman.

The decision came after the allegations by the woman whom the accused befriended on Facebook in April 2023. According to sources, the woman later distanced herself from Ramu after coming to know about his marital status. However, he allegedly continued to harass her physically and mentally.

Apart from stalking her, he even started creating a nuisance at her residence.
After a primary investigation with the available evidence, the higher authority issued a suspension order against Ramu for the time being.

As per the order, the constable will remain suspended until the conclusion of the disciplinary inquiry or the termination of all related criminal proceedings. During this period, he is instructed to remain within the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Area without prior permission.

Additionally, he will receive a subsistence allowance, subject to certain conditions, until the matter is resolved.
