Hyderabad: Man from Bhopal held for cheating
Hyderabad: A man from Bhopal, who was duping women by creating fake profiles on matrimonial sites and taking money, was arrested by the Gachibowli police on Monday.
The accused is married and has a seven-year-old son. He wanted to earn money easily by cheating women, said the Gachibowli police.
The complainant, a techie, alleged that her husband, Akhilesh Gurjar, 36, a native of Bhopal and resident of Kondapur, has cheated her telling that he works for the Indian Army, and also took loans of about Rs 60 lakh on her name before fleeing. She got to know that he does not work for Army, and was already married to another woman in Bhopal.
The Gachibowli police said that Akhilesh created a profile on a matrimonial website seeking a bride. When the victim rejected his proposal, he created another profile with a different name posing as an Army personnel.
After several conversations over phone and meetings, they decided to get married in May 2018 at Arya Samaj in Kukatpally, said the police
“Soon after the marriage, Akhilesh took several loans on his wife’s name totaling to about Rs 60 lakh and vanished. It was found that he was cheating people for a long time and was already married. The accused also got the techie to forcibly abort twice, before escaping to Bhopal,” said Gachibowli inspector R. Srinivas.
He said that Akhilesh was trapping innocent women and looting them by creating fake profiles on matrimonial websites. The accused has been arrested and produced before court for judicial remand, said the inspector.
