NEW DELHI: Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Sunday reiterated his demand for the resignation of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET-UG 2026 controversy. He said the Congress would continue its protests until a foolproof system was put in place to prevent paper leaks.
The remarks came amid nationwide protests by the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination and increasing political pressure on the Centre following the cancellation of the medical entrance test.
In a post on X, Gandhi accused the government of evading accountability despite concerns over students’ future.
"When millions of youth are on the streets, the future of 22 lakh children is at stake, and the PM remains silent—then the government is not focused on responding, but on evading," Gandhi wrote.
"Until Dharmendra Pradhan resigns and a foolproof system is established to prevent paper leaks like NEET—we will not stop," he added.
NSUI workers staged protests and ‘Mashaal March’ demonstrations in several parts of the country, seeking action over the alleged paper leak controversy.
