‘Cockroach Is Back’ After X Blocks Satirical Handle

Abhijeet also claimed that attempts are being made to hack the party’s Instagram handle and his personal account as well.

‘Mumbai:Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) X account has been withheld in India, its founder Abhijeet Dipke said on Thursday. However, just hours later it made a comeback with a new account on X.

Dipke wrote, “As expected Cockroach Janta Party’s account has been withheld in India.” CJP’s X handle had 200k followers before it was withheld. Abhijeet also claimed that attempts are being made to hack the party’s Instagram handle and his personal account as well.

Two hours after the announcement, Dipke announced that he had started a new account named ‘Cockroach Is Back’ on X. The CJP shared two fresh posts mocking its critics. One post read, “You thought you can get rid of us? Lol,” while another shared screenshots comparing the follower counts of the BJP’s Instagram handle and CJP’s original account, captioned: “The reason why they blocked us.”

Dipke also reacted publicly to the development, sharing an image showing that the original account had been withheld in India. He said the action was ‘expected.’

The CJP had crossed 14 million followers on Instagram, surpassing the followers of major political parties of the country, including the BJP and Congress. BJP and Congress have 8.8 million and 13.3 million followers on Instagram respectively.

The name ‘Cockroach Janta Party’ has emerged as a satirical response to controversial remarks made by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant during a court hearing last week. Referring to some unemployed young people and online activists, the CJI had allegedly compared them to ‘cockroaches’ and ‘parasites,’ triggering outrage online. The Chief Justice later issued a clarification claiming his remarks were misquoted and were aimed only at individuals using fake degrees to enter professions.

The party says that it firmly believes in the Constitution of India and will always work towards protecting its values. It also has a five-point manifesto that proposes that if the CJP comes in power, “no Chief Justice shall be granted a Rajya Sabha seat as a post-retirement reward.”

Other resolutions include 50 per cent reservation for women in the Parliament, barring MPs and MLAs from contesting elections for 20 years in case of defection, arresting the chief election commissioner (CEC) under UAPA in case of ‘legit vote deletion’ and cancelling licenses of all media houses owned by Ambani and Adani.

The online campaign was started by 30-year old Dipke on May 16. Dipke has just completed his masters in Public Relations from Boston University in the USA.
