Class XII Girl Shot Dead By Lover In West Bengal

KOLKATA: A teenaged girl was shot dead at home by her lover for trying to end ties with him. She was a student of class XII. The murder took place in Nadia of West Bengal on Monday. The accused, Debraj Singha, was later arrested by the police on murder charge.

He stormed the house of his girlfriend, Isha Mullick (19), at Manikpara opposite Krishnanagar Women's College in Kotwali area in the afternoon and fired two rounds at her and fled. The victim's mother and brother were at home but were busy with work during the shooting.

They said as soon as they heard the sound of the firing, they rushed to a room at their house only to find Isha lying in a pool of blood. They also saw the culprit running out of their house with a pistol. Isha was rushed to Shaktinagar District Hospital where she was declared dead.

According to the preliminary investigation, Isha was not happy with Debraj and wanted to end their affair but the youth did not agree with it. Superintendent of Police (Krishnanagar Police District) K Amarnath said, “Two bullet injuries were found on the victim's body which was later sent for post mortem.”
