BHUBANESWAR: A routine day at the Biju Patnaik International Airport turned dramatic on Friday when a man collapsed suddenly at a security screening point—only to be pulled back from the brink by the quick thinking and training of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel on duty.

The man, an employee of the Institute of Life Sciences’ Hospital and Blood Bank Services (ILHBS) deployed at the airport, lost consciousness without warning while on duty. As alarm spread among those nearby, CISF personnel stationed at the spot moved into action within seconds.

CISF jawan Dimple Kumar immediately began administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), carefully following emergency response protocols. The life-saving effort proved decisive. With the assistance of fellow CISF personnel D.P. Gupta, who helped secure the area and coordinate support, the unconscious man gradually responded.

Once stabilised, the employee was rushed to Capital Hospital, where he was admitted for further medical treatment. Doctors later confirmed that the timely CPR administered at the airport was critical in saving his life, and lauded the CISF personnel for their alertness and presence of mind.

The incident has drawn widespread appreciation, highlighting the expanding role of security forces beyond surveillance and enforcement. The CISF also shared details of the rescue through its official social media platforms, underscoring the humanitarian commitment of its personnel in emergency situations.

For many at the airport that day, the episode served as a powerful reminder that preparedness and swift action can make the difference between life and death.
