CII Hails PM Modi’s Reform Roadmap for Viksit Bharat 2047

Industry body says new initiatives on jobs, MSMEs and GST will drive growth and global competitiveness

New Delhi: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on Friday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed reforms, describing them as a forward-looking roadmap to achieve Viksit Bharat by 2047. The industry body underlined India’s transformation into a confident, technologically advanced, and economically strong nation, with key initiatives such as next-generation GST reforms, a milestone ₹1-lakh crore youth empowerment programme, and incentives for small businesses to strengthen domestic manufacturing.

Welcoming the Prime Minister’s Independence Day address, CII president Rajiv Memani lauded the focus on self-reliance, innovation, and citizen empowerment. “These reforms will reduce the tax burden on citizens and businesses, boost ease of doing business, stimulate domestic consumption, and attract greater investments,” he said in a statement.

Memani highlighted the ₹1-lakh crore PM-Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana, which provides a ₹15,000 incentive for first-time job seekers, as a potential game-changer for employment generation and skill development. “MSMEs, as the backbone of India’s economy, will gain significantly from these measures. Improved access to talent, targeted incentives, and a stronger domestic manufacturing ecosystem will enable them to scale, innovate, and integrate with global value chains,” he added.

He also praised the government’s focus on modernising regulations, decriminalising minor offences, and setting up a task force for next-generation reforms, saying these steps would lower compliance costs, remove operational hurdles, and foster trust and innovation. “We are ready to work with the government and stakeholders to advance these reforms, encourage industry participation, and ensure India’s growth remains robust, inclusive, and globally competitive,” Memani said.
