Kolkata: Diamond Harbour Trinamul Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee's personal assistant Sumit Roy was questioned by the criminal investigation department (CID) of the West Bengal Police over several hours for the second time within a day in connection with a land fraud case.
Sumit appeared at the CID headquarters, Bhawani Bhavan, shortly before 10 am on Sunday after getting a fresh summons. He was allowed to go after eight hours of grilling during which his statement was recorded by the investigators into the case at Salboni in West Midnapore. Sumit however avoided the media.
He was summoned and quizzed by the state detective agency for 10 hours on Saturday after he appeared before it following a notice. Sumit later visited Mr Banerjee at his residence in Kalighat. The two rounds of his questioning came after he was granted interim relief by the Calcutta High Court and Supreme Court in a job scam and land fraud case respectively. He was earlier into hiding.
