China Defends Border Actions, Countering India’s LAC Patrolling Concerns
Beijing calls for joint efforts to maintain peace along the Line of Actual Control

New Delhi: Beijing on Monday said that it has consistently and strictly abides by the relevant agreements, military Commanders understandings reached between India and China and conducts normal border patrols and control activities to safeguard territorial sovereignty and stability in the border areas.
In his weekly press conference, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Mr Guo Jiakun said that the two countries maintain communication through diplomatic and military channels.
“China hopes India will work in the same direction to jointly implement the understandings reached by both sides and take concrete steps to maintain peace and tranquility in the border areas,” said Mr Guo while responding to a question about India’s comments that when Chinese troops deviate from the previously agreed patrolling practices, the situation in the India-China border areas periodically becomes disturbed.
“The situation in the India-China border areas gets disturbed from time to time when Chinese forces diverge from established patrolling patterns. Both sides continue to use existing diplomatic and military mechanisms to resolve outstanding issues and avoid misunderstanding and miscalculation along the Line of Actual Control. The two sides have also agreed to discuss ways to improve understanding of LAC in appropriate areas for better border management. I would also like to emphasize that the maintenance of peace and tranquillity in the border areas is essential for the overall development of bilateral relations,” Ministry of External spokesperson Mr Randhir Jaiswal said on Friday while referring to the latest incidents in Arunachal Pradesh.
