Chhattisgarh: Tribal Fashion Show Portrays Stylistic Journey Of Surrendered Women Naxals

Raipur: An ‘unique’ fashion show held here to showcase the handloom craftsmanship of tribals of Bastar in Chhattisgarh has portrayed the stylistic journey of the surrendered women Naxals, from rebel trails to catwalk.

The rehabilitated women Naxals who had spent most part of their life traversing the rough terrains in the jungles holding guns as Maoists were found amazingly at ease with the glare of light under which they walked the ramp gracefully, and confidently.

The fashion show was organized here on the occasion of the National Handloom Day to showcase the handloom craftsmanship of the tribals of Bastar.

The narrative of the show shifted to the transformation of the journey of the women Naxals after surrendering and rejoining the mainstream society when they took the stage and walked the ramp.

With their chin up and confidence oozing, they walked the ramp like professional models inviting thunderous applause from the audience who included chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Chhattisgarh Assembly speaker Dr. Raman Singh.

Donned in tribal handloom sarees, they captivated the audience with their charisma while walking the ramp elegantly celebrating the rich legacy of tribal handloom craft.

It was more than a fashion presentation- it offered a powerful glimpse of Bastar’s changing story.

Once associated with a life of violence and weapons, there women are now embracing a new path built on skill, culture and dignity, as the fashion show has revealed.

Chief minister Mr. Sai launched ‘Koshal Fab’, a premium brand aimed at giving Chhattisgarh’s traditional Kosa silk a stronger market identity.
