Chhattisgarh: Professor Leaked B.Sc Ag Exam Papers To Fund Ailing Son’s Treatment: Police

RAIPUR: A professor of a private agriculture college in Chhattisgarh, arrested in connection with the paper leak case a couple of days ago, had turned to the illegal practice to support his ailing son’s mounting medical bills, the police investigation has suggested.
Yogesh Sonkesariya (38), a professor of Bhartiya College of Agriculture and Agricultural Engineering, a private institution in Durg in Chhattisgarh, was arrested along with six students of the institution on charges of exam paper leaks of Agriculture Pathology of first year of B.Sc. (Ag) and Agriculture Entomology of second year B.Sc. (Ag), held on August seven and August 20 respectively.

A second FIR was filed against the professor after the exam paper leak of first-year B.Sc. (Ag) came to the fore.
Police investigation has revealed that the professor who has two children joined his post in the college last year.
He holds a MTech degree in food technology and received a salary of Rs 20,000 per month.
One of his children was ailing and the professor needed additional income to support medical expenditures of his sick son, police sources said.
The professor hails from Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh.
Police investigation has revealed that he had punched small holes with the help of a needle in the sealed envelope containing exam papers of Agriculture Entomology of second-year B.Sc. (Ag), held on August 20, and inserted an endoscopic camera inside the envelope to take video of the question paper.
He later allegedly sold the exam papers to students at Rs 11,000.
He had adopted the same practice to leak the exam paper of Agriculture Pathology of first-year B.Sc. (Ag), held on August seven.
Sources said that the matter would have gone unnoticed had the exam paper of second-year B.Sc. (Ag) was not made viral on social media, like in the case of the paper leak in the first-year B.Sc. (Ag) exam.
“The professor never expected that the exam paper of second-year B.Sc. (Ag) will be made viral on social media bringing the matter under scrutiny of the Indira Gandhi Agriculture University, a state-government run institution in Raipur which conducts the exams for its 15 affiliated colleges”, a police officer said, unwilling to be quoted.
