Chhattisgarh: Maoist, Carrying Rs 5 Lakh Bounty, Gunned Down in Bijapur Encounter

Raipur: A ‘hardcore’ Maoist carrying a bounty of Rs five lakh was on Friday gunned down in an encounter with security forces in a forest in Bijapur district under south Bastar in Chhattisgarh.
The encounter took place in the forest of Adwada-Kometa under Bhairamgarh block in the district at around six am when the armed Naxals opened fire on a search party of district reserve guard (DRG) jawans, police said.
Body of a Naxal along with weapons was recovered at the encounter site, Bijapur district superintendent of police Dr Jitendra Yadav said.
The slain Naxal has been identified as Fagnu Madvi, a member of Bhairamgarh area committee of Maoists.
He carried a bounty of Rs five lakh.
One .303 rifle, a nine mm pistol and explosives and a wireless set were also recovered at the encounter site.
