Chhattisgarh Govt Unveils Rehab Scheme for Ex-Agniveers

Raipur: The Chhattisgarh government on Wednesday unveiled a rehabilitation scheme for the former Agniveer soldiers.

The state cabinet which met here under the chairmanship of chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai approved the proposal to frame the “Reservation of Vacancies in Class III Posts of State Civil Services for Agniveer Soldiers of Chhattisgarh Rules, 2026”.

Under the new rules, ten percent reservation will be provided to eligible Agniveer soldiers in direct recruitment to Class III posts, including police constables in the police department, forest guards in the forest and climate change department, and jail warders in the prison department, an official spokesman said.

The decision has been taken in compliance with the announcement made by the chief minister in the state Assembly on July 26, 2024.

The reservation will be available to Agniveer soldiers who have successfully completed four years of service in the Indian Armed Forces and have been discharged with a valid service certificate.

“The cabinet noted that the decision will not only create enhanced employment opportunities for Agniveers in the state services but will also enable the police, forest and prison departments to benefit from their discipline, training and valuable experience”, the spokesman said.

In another significant move, the cabinet approved the proposal to constitute a ministerial sub-committee to ensure the timely and seamless availability of fertilizers to farmers during the Kharif and Rabi cropping seasons.

The committee will also provide recommendation, guidance and inputs on matters relating to fertilizer supply, distribution and overall management.
