C’garh: Sudden Late-Evening Meeting Of Sai Ministry Sparks Speculations On Cabinet Reshuffle
All the ministers in the state ministry were asked to attend the meeting, convened by chief minister Mr. Sai at his official bungalow at nine pm on Thursday, sources said.
Raipur: The ‘unscheduled, sudden’ meeting of the Vishnu Deo Sai ministry, convened here late on Thursday evening, sparked speculations on a possible expansion and reshuffle in the state cabinet in the near future.
All the ministers in the state ministry were asked to attend the meeting, convened by chief minister Mr. Sai at his official bungalow at nine pm on Thursday, sources said.
Several ministers had to drop their scheduled programmes in the districts, they are given charges of, to rush to Raipur to attend the meeting, a minister in the Sai ministry told this newspaper on Friday.
The ‘sudden’ development has revived the speculations on a possible expansion and reshuffle in the state cabinet, pending since long.
The rumours of state ministry expansion and reshuffle became so strong that several BJP MLAs, aspirants for a berth in the Sai ministry, were said to have visited the CM’s bungalow to verify its authenticity, sources said.
Some other BJP MLAs, also aspirants for ministerial berths, were seen frantically contacting the ministers to ascertain the topic of discussion in the meeting, sources said.
Deputy chief minister Vijay Sharma however described it as a routine once-in-a-three month- meeting to review the works of the ministers in the districts, assigned to them, and coordinate between them.
Chief minister Mr. Sai on Friday however said that the meeting was called to review the ongoing programmes, chalked out to celebrate the occasion of prime minister Narendra Modi completing a record 12 years in the office of PM.
