The farmer has claimed that the lands on which the terminal of Swami Vivekanand Airport and its garden stand belong to his ancestors: Reports

RAIPUR: A farmer here has staked claim over the lands on which Raipur airport has been built as his ancestral property and demanded a compensation of Rs 3,500 crore.
Raipur-based farmer Ashwani Bandhe (53) has moved the supreme court seeking the compensation.
The farmer has claimed that the lands on which the terminal of Swami Vivekanand Airport and its garden stand belong to his ancestors.
He claimed that the land was taken by the British government during World War II for military purposes and was supposed to be returned after the war ended.
Mr. Bandhe claimed that he has been pursuing the matter for the past 35 years.
He supported his claim with historical land records, acquisition documents and archival materials.
He claimed that records procured from the state culture department mentioned his ancestors in connection with the land acquired for the wartime airfield.
The issue has earlier landed in the Chhattisgarh high court which ordered a probe into the dispute.
Mr. Bandhe however moved the supreme court arguing that the matter has already been looked into by the competent authority.
