C’garh District Completes First Phase Census In Record Time, Sai Congratulates The Authorities For Feat
“The GPM district successfully completed the House Listing and Housing Census within just 17 days, setting a new benchmark in the state”: GPM district collector Dr. Santosh Kumar Dewangan

RAIPUR: The Gaurela-Pendra- Marwahi (GPM) district in Chhattisgarh achieved the feat of completing Phase-1 Census 2027 in a record time.
It was the first district in Chhattisgarh to achieve 100 percent completion of phase-one census ahead of the official deadline of May 30.
“The GPM district successfully completed the House Listing and Housing Census within just 17 days, setting a new benchmark in the state”, GPM district collector Dr. Santosh Kumar Dewangan told this newspaper on Sunday.
The phase-one census commenced in Chhattisgarh on May one and is scheduled to be completed on May 30.
The GPM district has completed the entire exercise by the midnight of May 16.
“The feat could be achieved through continuous monitoring, regular reviews, dedicated teamwork, and relentless door-to-door efforts by the officers and employees engaged in the census operation”, the district collector said.
In fact, the district had achieved only six percent of the phase-one census when the collector assumed charge in the district on May eight.
Through intensive coordination and administrative supervision, the work rapidly accelerated and reached 100 percent completion in a record time, he said.
“I myself had gone to the field to evaluate the situation and shortcomings when I assumed charge on May eight and called a meeting of officials concerned on May nine to motivate them to complete the phase-one census in a record time”, he recalled.
According to him, he laid emphasis on ‘Zero Pendency’ work for all the enumerators to ensure that each and every house in the district is covered without leaving a single one of them.
All the enumerators were asked to visit the house they find locked, in their areas of jurisdiction as many times as required till they communicate with the house owner concerned, he said while explaining the ‘Zero Pendency’ work.
A total of 513 enumerators and 85 supervisors were deployed across the district for operation.
With the feat, GPM has emerged as a model district for census execution in Chhattisgarh by completing phase-one census in a record time of 17 days whereas the state has so far achieved an overall 60.73 percent census work in the phase-one.
Chhattisgarh chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai has congratulated the enumerators and the GPM district administration for the feat.
