C’garh To Include State’s Art, Cultural Heritage In High School Syllabus

RAIPUR: In a first of its kind initiative, a three-day workshop, sponsored by the Chhattisgarh government, commenced here on Monday to prepare study materials covering the rich art and cultural heritage of the state for introduction in the high school syllabus.
An art repository centered on art, culture, music, folk art, folk dance, historical places and prominent shrines of different regions of the state will be prepared at the workshop, a spokesman of the state government said on Tuesday.
The workshop is being attended by eminent litterateurs, researchers, art and culture experts and historians who will pick 100 subjects relating to the art and culture of the state to prepare syllabus for the high schools to teach the students from Class Six to Class 12 about it, the spokesman said.
Short documentaries of five-ten minutes will also be prepared covering the rich art and cultural heritage of Chhattisgarh at the workshop.
Quality study materials on these subjects will be prepared at the workshop.
“A significant initiative is being made to teach the high school students of the state about the rich art and cultural heritage of Chhattisgarh with an objective to connect the new generation to their soil and cultural root”, the spokesman said.
