C’garh Agri Varsity Adopts Password-Protected E-Papers To Plug Exam Leaks
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of university vice-chancellor Dr. Girish Chandel: Reports

RAIPUR: In a move to make exams ‘leak-proof’, the Chhattisgarh government-run Indira Gandhi Agriculture University management here on Sunday decided to adopt a new system of delivering question papers to its affiliated colleges to conduct the future examinations via password-protected email.
The decision was taken at an emergency meeting convened by the university management here on Sunday to review the situation arising out of the leak of the second-year B.Sc. (Ag) Agriculture Entomology paper, held on August 20.
“The Indira Gandhi Agriculture University management took the paper leak issue very seriously and made several decisions to ensure transparency, fairness, and confidentiality of the examinations during an emergency meeting held on Sunday”, the spokesman of the educational institution told this newspaper.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of university vice-chancellor Dr. Girish Chandel.
Following the August 20 paper leak incident, the university management decided to send question papers to its 15 affiliated agriculture colleges in the state for future examinations via password-protected email around half-an-hour before the examination, instead of sending hard copies, the spokesman said.
In fact, the university has already brought into force the new system by sending question papers for the August 22 examination to the affiliated colleges via password-protected email, instead of sending hard copies which is prone to leak.
The examinations scheduled for August 24 will also be conducted using the same process, the spokesman said.
In another measure to prevent paper leak incidents in the future, the university management has decided to increase the number of CCTVs in the University Examination Department and in the college examination halls.
Six people including a professor of the Indian Agricultural College, Durg in Chhattisgarh, and five students of the college, were on Saturday arrested in connection with the August 20 paper leak incident.
According to the university management, it was also found in the police investigation that the accused had also leaked the Plant Pathology question paper for the first-year B.Sc. (Ag), held on August seven.
It has been decided to cancel both the examinations and reschedule them.
Meanwhile, the university authorities have decided to take legal action against the Indian Agricultural College, Durg, for failing to ensure confidentiality of the examination in the paper leak case.
