CBI Nabs NF Railway Engineer Red-Handed While Accepting Bribe
The total amount of the bribe demanded by the engineer for clearing the pending bill of nearly Rs 20 lakh
Guwahati: In a major breakthrough the anti-corruption branch of CBI in Shillong on Saturday caught a senior section engineer of Northeast Frontier Railway red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 for clearing the pending bills of contractors.
Informing that CBI Shillong had registered a regular case, security sources said that CBI laid a trap and nabbed Kuntal Chakraborty, Senior Section Engineer, NF Railway red-handed while accepting the bribe from contractors.
Pointing out that CBI sleuths caught the engineer with Rs. 20,000, security sources said that it was only one percent of the total amount of the bribe demanded by the engineer for clearing the pending bill of nearly Rs 20 lakh.
Confirming the recovery and arrest of N F Railway engineer, CBI sources said that CBI has registered an FIR in this connection and a search at the residential premises of accused and other places are in progress.
