CBI Chargesheets Ex-Judge, Son in Twisha Sharma Death Case
Husband, mother-in-law booked for dowry death, cruelty and abetment to suicide

Bhopal: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a 636-page chargesheet before a special court in Bhopal in connection with the recent death of actor-model Twisha Sharma in mysterious circumstances at her in-laws’ home here, officials said on Monday.
Her mom-in-law Giribala Singh, a retired judge, and husband Samarth Singh, a lawyer, have been named in the chargesheet, CBI sources said.
They have been booked under Sections 80 (2) (dowry death), 85 (subject a woman to cruelty), 108 (abetment to suicide) and 3 (5) (common intention) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and Sections 3 and 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act.
Noida-based Twisha (31) had married Samarth on December nine, 2025 and moved to Bhopal to stay with her in-laws after her marriage.
She was found hanging in her in-law’s house on May 12 this year barely hours after she visited a beauty parlour here.
According to the FIR, Samarth had taken her to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhopal, and claimed that she hanged herself at home at 10.20 pm on May 12.
The Madhya Pradesh police had constituted a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the incident.
But Twisha’ family members expressed doubt over the integrity of police probing the incident and demanded a probe by the CBI.
The CBI later took over the probe into the incident.
Twisha’s family members also demanded a second autopsy to clear doubts on the first autopsy report.
A team from AIIMS, Delhi, had conducted the second autopsy following a directive by the Madhya Pradesh High Court and submitted its report in a sealed cover to the CBI probing the incident.
The two accused were later arrested and sent to jail.
