CBI chargesheet on 11 for Suvendu-PA Murder
Two brothers, also BJP workers, in the list

Kolkata: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) chargesheeted 11 persons, including two brothers, who are also BJP workers, in the gruesome murder of West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari's personal assistant (PA) Chandranath Rath at Madhyamgram in North 24 Parganas.
The CBI submitted its chargesheet at Barasat Court of the district on Thursday. Among the 11 arrested accused who have been booked in the chargesheet, six had acted as sharpshooters for the murder. They are Manu Singh, Raj Singh, Gulu Singh, Mayank Raj Mishra, Vicky Mourya and Navin Kumar Singh.
Most of them are from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Three others, Sanjay Rai, Vinay Rai and Vikash Mishra, who are also from the two states, were identified as ‘linkmen’ in the CBI chargesheet for connecting the sharpshooters with the remaining two accused, Sagar Sonkar and his brother Saheb.
Sagar and Saheb, who the CBI arrested in the case on July 31 after summoning and questioning them on July 17 over 12 hours, have been marked in the chargesheet as the ‘conspirators’ of the murder at Doharia in Madhyamgram on May 6 night. They are residents of Jorabagan at Shyampukur in North Kolkata.
Known as Dadar Onugami (Elder Brother's Followers), which is a camp of Mr Adhikari, in the area, the duo worked closely under Rath in the Assembly Election campaign for Mr Adhikari during his contest against Trinamul Congress supremo and former CM Mamata Banerjee at Bhowanipore seat this time.
Sagar was earlier in TMC and worked at Shyampukur party MLA and minister Shashi Panja’s office for a long time. He, however switched to BJP in 2021 and started working under Rath before getting Saheb, now a student of Jaipuria College, on board with him also.
According to sources, the two brothers thus knew each and every detail of Rath who somehow became a target of personal rivalry later, apparently for his high-profile job of PA. The first plot to eliminate Rath was hatched in December last year but it did not materialise then, the CBI has learnt.
