Cartoonist Hemant Malviya Booked for Sharing Obscene Content on PM Modi, RSS
He was arrested after a complaint was filed by lawyer and RRS member Vinay Joshi on wednesday evening.

Hemant Malviya an Indore- based cartoonist was booked by Madhya Pradesh police after he allegedly shared offensive and indecent content about Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Lord Shiva.
He was arrested after a complaint was filed by lawyer and RRS member Vinay Joshi on wednesday evening. Joshi states that the posts shared by Malviya were “offensive” “indecent” and “obscene” and also were meant to hurt the image of RSS and hindu religion.
According to the social media of Hemant, he is a cartoonist, artist and wedding decorator. His posts mostly consist of satire which aims to address various social and political issues. He has about 40,000 followers on Facebook and he claims that the characters in his cartoons are fictional and if there is any resemblance it is coincidental. Speaking to the Indian Express and had denied any accusations against him. He also stated that he had been a target for the right wing party after he faced legal trouble in 2022 for allegedly creating obscene cartoons on yoga guru Ramdev and just months later he was booked again for allegedly making defamatory comments on the death of PM Modi’s mother in December of 2022.
Based on the complaint, Malviya has been charged with sections 196 (promoting enmity between groups), section 299 (malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings), section 352 (insult with intention to disrupt peace), section 353(2) (statements encouraging public mischief) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. He has also been booked under section 67A of the Information Technology Act. According to Lasudiya police station who is in-charge Tareesh Soni said Malviya has not been arrested yet and that the investigation is ongoing.
