Bulldozer Razes TMC Office of Abhishek
A bulldozer was pressed for the demolition at the ground and first floors till afternoon.

Kolkata: Diamond Harbour Trinamul Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee's main party office at his parliamentary constituency in South 24 Parganas of West Bengal was razed by bulldozer by the district administration on Saturday following a complaint of illegal occupation.
In the morning, a huge police contingent along with the district land department officials surrounded the four-storeyed TMC party office, lying under lock and key following the Assembly Election results, at Amtala. A bulldozer was pressed for the demolition at the ground and first floors till afternoon.
Later a police team entered the address and seized many items. Meanwhile, an angry mob also went inside and launched vandalism. The building came up on a five-kotah of land within a year after Abhishek won from Diamond Harbour for the first time as TMC MP in 2014. Earlier, a bakery was in place there but was destroyed in a fire.
According to the district administration, since Leaps and Bounds, a private firm owned by Abhishek, had bought the land from its owner Motiur Rahman Mondal, a notice was sent to his father, Amit Banerjee, being a director of the firm, for hearing on July 15 following a complaint by a local resident, Sushanta Mondal, but Mr Banerjee skipped it.
Abhishek however claimed the building 'legal' and accused the district administration of acting illegally amidst a case underway over the address at the Calcutta High Court. He informed that a video of the demolition was sent to the HC and vowed to challenge it legally.
