BJP Accuses Cong of Creating Chaos, Attacking Institutions

Chouhan also described Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi's march to the Supreme Court as "pure theatrics", accusing the Congress of blaming the Election Commission for its electoral defeats instead of acknowledging its leadership failures.

New Delhi: Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday accused the Congress of attempting to create anarchy and undermine constitutional institutions to return to power, describing its agitation against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar as a gathering of hooligans spreading chaos on the streets.

The senior BJP leader alleged that the Congress and the Opposition bloc had become a "dangerous combination" and were acting as "a pawn in the hands of foreign powers" seeking to destabilise India.

Chouhan also described Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi's march to the Supreme Court as "pure theatrics", accusing the Congress of blaming the Election Commission for its electoral defeats instead of acknowledging its leadership failures.

"The Election Commission is not the reason for the Congress' defeat. The reason for the defeat of the Congress is its vichar shunya (visionless) leadership," he said, alleging that the party's leaders neither understood the country nor its people, values and traditions.

Questioning Gandhi's attempt to meet the Chief Justice of India, Chouhan said there was a prescribed procedure for seeking such meetings.

"You cannot simply write a letter and show up whenever you feel like it. This is just a drama, pure theatrics, nothing but theatrics," he said.

Taking exception to Gandhi's description of the Congress-led anti-CEC movement as "Shiv ki Baraat", Chouhan said, "Those who oppose Ram are talking about Lord Shiv... It is not Lord Shiv's 'baraat' but a mob of unruly elements attempting to spread anarchy on the streets."

He also ridiculed Gandhi's remarks about not planning his political actions, saying the Congress's lack of planning was responsible for its electoral setbacks.

Chouhan alleged that the Congress had lost public trust and was collaborating with foreign forces to create instability in its pursuit of power.

Separately, BJP leader and former Union minister Anurag Thakur accused Gandhi of attempting to undermine constitutional institutions and tarnish India's image internationally.

Thakur said the Congress leader was questioning the people's mandate through his repeated allegations of "vote chori" and shifting blame for electoral defeats to the Election Commission, electronic voting machines and the Chief Election Commissioner.

"The situation has now deteriorated to the point where Rahul Gandhi is resorting to street-level language and making baseless allegations," he alleged.
