Bengaluru: Drinking Water to Be Delivered to Residents’ Doorsteps Soon

Chairman of BWSSB Dr Ram Prasath Manohar said in a statement here that residents can book required quantities of water

Bengaluru: “Cauvery on Wheels” is all set to take off in Bengaluru to cater to the needs of the residents wherein drinking water will be supplied to the doorsteps of the residents through online bookings. The bookings can be made by residents through a mobile app and also over Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) website.

The programme is all set to be launched by Bengaluru incharge and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and BWSSB is making arrangements to provide drinking water Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certified.

The move to provide drinking water online is to eliminate tankers from charging hefty fares from the residents and the programme “Cauvery on Wheels” will have OPT based service helping residents to track a tanker, timely delivery of required clean drinking water BIS certified, water will made available at affordable rates and no surcharge or extra charges levied to avail water.

Chairman of BWSSB Dr Ram Prasath Manohar said in a statement here that residents can book required quantities of water and termed the “Cauvery on Wheels” a novel idea and none of the Water Supply Boards in the country have embarked upon such a programme, so far.

The programme of the BWSSB, the chairman said, private tankers used to charge hefty rates from residents and revised at their will if demand for water surged during summer. Besides, water provided by private tankers had no assurance of its quality and also difference in quantity of water supplied to the residents.
