Bengaluru Cop Among 4 Killed as Bus Hits Safety Wall at Sharp 80-Degree Curve of Flyover

While some members of the team returned to Bengaluru, Ravi and two others remained in Madhya Pradesh.

Bhopal: A Bengaluru cop along with his four co-passengers were on Friday killed when a bus in which they were travelling crashed into the safety of the sharp 80-degree-curve on the flyover of the Byabra bypass in Madhya Pradesh’s Rajgarh district.

At least 12 other passengers were injured in the incident.

Several passengers including Ravi K B (45), inspector at the Southeast Cybercrime Station, who were sleeping on the upper berths were thrown off the bus and the flyover under the impact of the accident, police said.

Ravi and three other passengers sustained fatal injuries in the process, police said.

At least 12 people were also injured in the incident and rushed to the nearby government hospital.

Two of them were shifted to the hospital in Gwalior when their condition worsened, police said.

The driver of the bus had failed to negotiate the sharp curve of the overbridge leading to the tragedy, police said.

The reason for the accident could be known after the police probe.

“High speed of the bus at the time of negotiating the sharp curve on the overbridge may have caused the mishap” police sources said.

The slain cop was part of a team from Bengaluru, sent to Madhya Pradesh, for investigation into a cybercrime.

The identities of the other two members in the team are yet to be identified but police said that they are safe.

The bus was travelling from Kanpur to Indore.

Meanwhile, a statement issued by Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh said that a team from Southeast CEN police station had travelled to Madhya Pradesh in connection with a cybercrime case and arrested two accused.

While some members of the team returned to Bengaluru, Ravi and two others remained in Madhya Pradesh.

The team had stayed back to arrest another accused in Madhya Pradesh.
