Arunachal CM Dismisses PLA Face-Off Reports as 'Rumours' in Taksing
The social media reports referring to the locals alleged an incursion by Chinese forces in Arunachal Pradesh along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
Guwahati: Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu on Friday rejected reports of a fresh Chinese incursion and stand-off into the state, stating that he would verify the claims by speaking to locals and the Indian Army.
The remarks of the chief minister came in the wake of media reports claiming fresh face-off between the Indian Army and the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) from the Taksing Circle in Arunachal Pradesh's Upper Subansiri district.
Fresh images and videos circulating on social media have reignited concerns over the India-China border in Arunachal Pradesh, with the footage purportedly showing a face-off between Indian Army and Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) personnel in the Taksing Circle.
The visuals, carrying a timestamp of July 26, 2026, have gone viral amid claims that the confrontation may have begun a day earlier, on July 25. The authenticity of the footage, however, has not been independently verified.
Mr Khandu told reporters at Itanagar that he would gather details about the alleged incursion by China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) before making any further statement.
"We don't think there was an incursion as the Indian Army personnel are deployed and maintaining the territory. I have also urged the local tribes; I will hear them and also talk to the army," he said.

Meanwhile, locals said that Mr Karu Chader, president of the Nah Welfare Society (NWS), who filed a memorandum to the Upper Subansiri Deputy Commissioner in June 2026 reporting that the Chinese PLA has built military camps, roads, and bridges on ancestral hunting and grazing lands in the Taksing circle was camping in the state capital Itanagar to meet the political leadership and apprise them of latest development. He however refused to divulge much on the latest development stating that a committee of villagers would take a decision on briefing the media about the situation in the frontier circle. “We are in Itanagar to meet the authorities and apprise the situation of Taksing circle,” he said.
