Army Repels Pakistan Drone in Nowshera, Heightens Vigilance After Multiple Sightings

The swift response forced the drone to retreat across the LoC, and no damage or casualties were reported

Srinagar: The Indian Army late Sunday night opened fire after detecting a Pakistan drone in the Nowshera sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district along the Line of Control (LoC), defence sources confirmed.
Troops deployed in the forward area picked up the drone’s movement during routine surveillance and immediately activated counter‑unmanned aerial systems. The swift response forced the drone to retreat across the LoC, and no damage or casualties were reported.
According to defence officials, this incident is part of a larger pattern of increased drone activity along both the International Border (IB) and the LoC in J&K. A total of five drone sightings have been recorded in recent days, many of which are suspected to involve Pakistan Army-operated platforms engaged in reconnaissance or surveillance missions over sensitive Indian positions.
Several of these sightings occurred specifically in the Naushera–Rajouri belt, a strategically important stretch frequently targeted for cross‑border surveillance attempts. In each instance, alert Indian Army units responded promptly, employing standard counter‑drone protocols to prevent any incursion or hostile activity. Officials said the Army’s rapid reaction ensured that none of the drones managed to penetrate Indian airspace beyond the initial detection point.
Security agencies have since intensified monitoring across forward areas in Rajouri and adjoining sectors. Ground troops, aerial surveillance assets, and electronic monitoring systems have all been placed on heightened alert to counter any future attempts at intrusion. The repeated drone activity has prompted a reinforced security posture, with forces maintaining round‑the‑clock vigilance.
Defence sources emphasised that the situation along the LoC and the IB remains under continuous observation. All agencies involved in border management are coordinating closely to safeguard territorial integrity and ensure that any hostile manoeuvre is detected and neutralised at the earliest possible stage.
