Archaeology Department Starts Rebuilding Kondaveedu Fort Shivalayam

Vijayawada: State archaeology department on Saturday initiated works to rebuild the ancient Shivalayam temple at the Kondaveedu Fort. The reconstruction will be completed in the next two to three months, department officials said.

According to archaeology department records, the Shivalayam temple atop the Kondaveedu fort had been constructed by Reddy dynasty kings in the 14th century. The temple consists of three blocks Garbhalayam, Anataralayam and Mukha Mandapam, built as per Vaastu norms.

Kondaveedu Fort Development Committee convener K. Siva Reddy said the renovation works of the Shivalayam temple will be completed in the next two to three months.
